Use a Metal Measuring Tape (Cloth Tapes May Stretch)

Inside Mount

Blinds & shades are mounted inside the window casing.

Width

– Measure in 3 places to the nearest 1/8″
– Order using the shortest measurement

Height

– Measure in 3 places to the nearest 1/8″
– Order using the longest measurement

Outside Mount

Blinds & shades are mounted outside the window casing. Eliminates the light gap around windows.

Width & Height

– Measure the exact width and height of the area to be covered
– Add 4″ to both width and height for better light and privacy control
– 2″ for each side as per drawing

Inside Mount

Blinds are mounted inside the window or door casing.

Width

– Measure in 3 places to the nearest 1/8″
– Order using the shortest measurement

Height

– Measure in 3 places to the nearest 1/8″
– Order using the longest measurement
Measure your windows or doors for inside mounted vertical blinds.

Outside Mount

Blinds are mounted outside the window casing.
To measure your blinds for Patio Doors, please use the measuring instructions below.

Width & Height

– Measure the exact width and height of the area to be covered
– Add 4″ to both width and height for better light and privacy control
– 2″ for each side as per drawing

Patio Door

Blinds are mounted on the outside of the door frame.

Width

– Measure the exact width of the area to be covered.
– Add 4″ to the width. 2″ for each side as per drawing.

Height

– Measure the exact height of the area to be covered.
– Add 2″ to the height at the top, and deduct 1/2″ at the bottom so the vanes are clear of the floor.
Measure your patio doors for outside mounted vertical blinds.

DualDrape™ is recommended for Outside Mount.

Outside Mount – Windows

Shade is mounted outside the window casing.

Width

To minimize light leakage, the fabric vanes should overlap the opening on the right & left side at least 4″. Select the closest width (rounding up) from the track sizes available.

Height

The length from the top of the headrail to the bottom of the fabric. The fabric vanes should overlap the window opening at least 3″ at the top & bottom.

Outside Mount – Doors

Shade is mounted outside the door casing.

Width

To minimize light leakage, the fabric vanes should overlap the opening on the right & left side at least 4″. Select the closest width (rounding up) in the track sizes available.

Height

The length from the top of the headrail to the bottom of the fabric. The fabric vanes should overlap the window opening at least 3″. Deduct 1/2″ at the bottom.

Use a Metal Measuring Tape (Cloth Tapes May Stretch)
Pro Tips:
– Use metal measuring tape, as cloth tapes may stretch.
– Measure to the nearest 1/16”
– Do NOT add or subtract. Order with the exact measurements.
– Always measure twice to ensure accuracy.

Step 1: Window Frame Size

Measure inside width and height in 3 places.
Diagonal Measurements for Outside Mount Shutters
PRO TIP: Take two diagonal measurements. If the difference between the two is greater than 1/4 inch, an outside mount is recommended.

Step 2: Window Style

Does your window tilt inward?

Step 3: Window Type

Do you have a protruding sill or window trim?
Window with No Trim or Sill
Window with Sill Only

Window with Both Trim and Sill

Step 4: Wall Clearance for Outside Mounts

Measure how much wall space is around your window. Use the smallest measurement.

There is a minimum mounting space requirement for outside mounted shutters. See chart for details:
